Memories are like roses tied together to make a beautiful bunch! But it depends on us if we will only enjoy the beauty and its scent or if we will get our fingers pricked and bleed once again!
Wandering through the memory lane wondering what to add to my bouquet of memories, I decided to add some memories of my crush! Having a crush is a very common part of growing up! We seem to have a crush or two in every nook and corner of wherever we go! At a point,we loose the count! The crushes we grow, sooner or later get crashed in most cases and we don't care much! Being no exception to the law of growing up, I had quite a number of them which crashed for a number of reasons. Sometimes it crashed because I saw that the boy had a girlfriend and I took a complete, sharp U-turn permanently! There were varied reasons for my crushes to crash in every 'sometime'! So, here are two stories of my crushes getting crashed!
Once in my seventh standard I had a crush on a guy who was a year senior to me in school. Well,I don't remember his name anymore! He looked decent and smart! Being an introvert, I was never much verbal about my crushes to anyone. So,alone in my head I enjoyed the fact of having a crush on a senior. Whenever he passed by me, I, avoiding everyone's eyes used to turn around to have a better look at him! But the smell of CRUSH caught his nose and he caught me off-guard while I was looking at him, a number of times! Very soon I found him having a bigger crush on me than I had on him! Whenever our paths crossed in school, his friends used to take my name and whenever I turned around to see if someone was calling me, I found it was his friends taking my name and he was looking at me and smiling! Then it was me who caught him a number of times, while he was following me through the corridors! Everything went on peacefully and perfectly! My crush went on well for a year! I got into the eighth standard and found him land in the same English coaching class! My tutor had merged our classes! I was performing Bhangra inside my head! Quite a number of glances we exchanged but we never talked! Then I found him in my Physics coaching class also! It was a happier turn-out! Little did I know that the happier turn out was going to crash my crush! The smartest and most handsome boy I thought him to be, the DUFFER and DUMBER he turned out to be! Both my English and Physics teachers shouted at him. He turned out to be a block head who had potentiality neither in English nor in Physics. Both the teachers started having aches in their hands twisting  his ears, slapping his head, dragging him out of the class holding and twitching his ear. Then came the famous MURGA punishment, our Indian teachers are so expert at imparting on students! The Murga posture of my handsome crush right in front of me crashed my crush!ALAS!....but PHEW!
My crushes went on! Another handsome boy caught my eyes who was in the very class of my ex-crush! I was in the ninth standard by then and he was in the tenth! I was a die-hard Harry Potter fan back then and was always in search of a real life Harry Potter everywhere! Then one fine day he caught my eyes, having a lot of resemblance with Harry Potter...but without specs! I decided to compromise on that part! In the ninth standard I made a new friend,Indrani, who turned out to be my best friend! Whenever I was out with her during recess and I saw him, I used to drag her around to see him, but he always managed to melt away in the crowded corridors! So many times she asked me what was I up to but I never said a word, until one day she got angry! Hearing everything she gave me a frosty-nosed look! So many times I tried to know his name but could never manage to land up with a definite one! I always had a few names on hand! So many Probability, Permutations and Combinations I did but to no avail! At last our Principal declared our school excursion and also announced that ninth and tenth standard would be going together! It was my golden opportunity for what I had and still have no idea! Yet I felt it was my golden opportunity, may be to atleast know his name! I went on the excursion! Being very choosy about friends, I never had much friends but Indrani! We were roaming here and there when suddenly I found Mr. Half Harry Potter in front of me! I wanted to see him for sometime more! "What to do?! What to do?! Think quickly Madhurima, again before he disappears!", I thought. I looked around. Indrani was going on saying ,"Why are we standing here? Let's go!" I wasn't paying any heed. Looking around, I found two swings on which fifth standard students, who went for the excursion, were pouring upon! They were all standing in Que,waiting eagerly for their turn and sometimes breaking into small fights to sit on them. Having quickly explained to Indrani what I was up to, I went near the swing and drove off the kids from one of the swings with the power of seniority! But quite obvious they were mad at me! I had my chance of  sitting on the swing and relishing the moment of looking at my senior! Indrani was standing beside me,smiling! I always had the habit of riding on a swing and go as high as possible without holding the chains or the ropes; and that wasn't an exceptional moment! I started going higher and higher on the swing and was happy looking at him,who was sitting near the swing with his friends around! Indrani asked me to slow down but I reassured her and went on! But within seconds of reassurance, it happened! I had reached the highest point the swing could go! As the swing was going up in the front in full momentum, the seat of the swing suddenly gave a jolt and like an ANGRY BIRD, I flew off the swing..."WHEEEEEEEEEE"...and BANG with the biggest B! I fell on the ground with my face towards the ground! It was a moment when my two wishes got fulfilled! Firstly, my wish of flying like a bird which I had since I was a small kid! Secondly, my wish of grabbing the attention of my crush - that was also fulfilled! How? The boy who never noticed me ever for months when I had roamed around him,was looking at me very much! A mixture of surprise and shock was all over his face and also on the faces of the people around him! I forgot I had just landed with a big thud on the ground! Embarrassment overtook the pain! Indrani came running to get me up and see if I was badly hurt or not. The fifth standards were laughing their heart out! I came to know they already knew that the seat was no seat but just a plank of wooden board placed on the swing to somehow sit on it! So, they had their little revenge! I was furious at them but didn't tell them much knowing my fault. Thereby my CRUSH got CRASHED with a capital C!

As we grow up and get stuck following our busy schedule in our hand, we get very little or no time to spend with the people with whom we have had bagged loads of memories! Even basking in the most cherished memory all by oneself  on a Sunday evening, over a cup of coffee, with a smile on a face has become once in a blue moon event! Yet ever, if those cherished and parted friends come together to chat, they get busy putting out the memories they bagged in their bags and discuss them like there is no tomorrow. Memories are very disorganized! They never follow any order or sequence- created just like that and comes in front of anytime, leaving you with a smile or with a few beads of tears.
I am a 'memory person'! Memories define me inside out! Being a person who is very much shaped by memories since childhood, I love sharing and listening to everyone whenever they come up with their stories!
Recently while seeing my sister solving some tricky Maths problems, I remembered how much I used to panic and catch a fever in no time in the name of 'Maths'! I always had reasons which were excuses in reality, not to open my Maths book. After my ICSE (class 10), I was overjoyed that finally the day had come when I could get rid of the subject that had interested me the least and bored me to the core! Mathematics opened the floodgates of a number of memories which ONLY A MATHS HATER WILL UNDERSTAND!

1. You never feel like opening the book! DUUUUH! Isn't that very obvious?!
No matter how much you try or have tried, your other books bear a lot of wears and tears, but your Maths book is as new as ever even if you have opened it....OCCASIONALLY...RELUCTANTLY...WITH NO INTENTION TO STUDY...

2. Your Maths teacher sees the best blank face ever!

The never brightening up faces in the maths

teacher’s class makes your Maths teacher frustrated

and blurt out concluding, “You are an idiot...You will

be a rickshaw wala/ a chai wala/kaam bai when you

grow up!”

3. The most logical things seem illogical to you.

   4.   %,-, <, >, +, sin, cos, tan, square roots, cube roots and everything  possible  seem to be going through several civil wars and they drag your brain into it!It's always the same! No matter how many or how few times you open your Maths book, the numbers, signs and symbols are always at war and even without any wish to be a part of them, you are dragged into it because you have an exam to pass! The Star Wars fight seems to be very mild in front of them!

    5.   No matter how much and how many punishments you get, you never seem to grow interest in the subject! Very likely those innocent puppy faces haven't worked no matter how much you have tried...You keep getting punishments and keep staying in the 'No improvement in Maths Zone'!

    6.  Though your interest rises at the beginning of every new chapter, but the interest doesn’t last for more than ten sums!....because the amateur level has taken a sudden sharp turn to the pro level after solving the first few easy sums and you lose interest in it!

   7.  You discover new talents while doing Maths or attending a Maths class! Your Maths copy gets filled up not with sums but with drawings - a flower in a pot with a few leaves hanging here and there or maybe some designs! And slowly you start turning from an amateur artist to a pro or maybe you remain an amateur all your life! You develop the art of talking with your friend without even opening your mouth by scribbling your words on paper, giving your teacher the impression that you are seriously taking down the sums your teacher is writing on the board!...Yet,sometimes those papers in which you have written down the whole conversation, which was supposed to be verbal, gets into the hand of your teacher -revealing your secrets and sometimes the cartoon of the teacher that you and your friend have made falls into his or her very hand!...And then you know what happened with you!

    8.  After writing your paper and after your result is out, you feel like gobbling your own paper! “BURP! YUMMMY!...I MEAN YAAAK!”

   9. You might be scoring or have scored good marks in other subjects but as soon as it comes to Maths, you go "Aaaaargh!", "Who the hell invented the subject?!"You just passed or haven’t passed in Maths but your other marks are shining brightly on your mark sheet! You are relieved even when have 'just passed' and thought that the darkness hovering over your Maths marks would be driven away by the brightness of the marks you have snatched in the other subjects. You hoped with all your heart that Maths won't be able to catch your parents' attention and even if it does, you would be easily forgiven. But your parents know very well about your serious illness in Maths and as you enter your house debating whether to tip-toe your way to your room or to enter boldly flaunting the marks you bagged in all the subjects but Maths; you find your Mom or Dad and sometimes both are there in the living room waiting for you, all set to give Maths the only spotlight!
